Queensland:- Airlie Beach

We left the Leap Hotel in the morning and drove up to Airlie Beach which was about 1 1/2 hours drive.

We arrived at the Big4 Adventure Whitsunday Holiday Park and we stayed here for 3 nights.

Wow, what a great caravan/holiday park!!!!   I was impressed!!!

There is a 32m heated lagoon pool (well, heated in winter), 2 water slides, mini golf, kids playground, jumping pillows, outdoor cinema, weekly activities, poolside massage, poolside coffee cart, tennis court, kids club and toddler time (Saturdays and school holidays), pedal karts for hire, their own animal park, good clean amenities and laundry.   They had lovely grassed areas and drive through sites for the caravans – easy parking!!!     We even had daily visits from a group of ducks that wandered around the park.

So we hit the pool and the slides after we arrived there in the afternoon!!  Yes, I even got into the water and had a swim!!!

A huge 13 waterslide park is currently under construction and will be finished very soon.  Shame it wasn’t finished when we were there, looks awesome.  Its going to be one of Australia’s largest resort waterslide parks!!!

On Wednesday we drove around Airlie Beach.   Some of the area is still damaged from Cyclone Debbie so there was a fair bit of redevelopment/reconstruction going on.   We walked along the foreshore and then we had a seafood lunch!! Beautiful fresh seafood – yummy!!

On Thursday we did a little more exploring around the area.    We drove to Dingo Beach and we went 4WDriving through the bush.   This was our first real 4WD little adventure!!   I was a little nervous and excited as well.   But it was OK I could see houses and a road to my left so if there was any trouble there were people around!! LOL LOL.     We drove through the bush for a couple of kms until we came down to the beach.   Andrew checked around and we couldn’t get through anywhere on the beach so we had to turn around and go back up the hill again and around to the road.  We then continued on to Hideaway Bay.   Well, what a lovely little area tucked away on the coast.   There were also a couple of resorts to stay at here.    We had lunch on the beach and a walk around, it was beautiful.   (For me, again, the water was too cold to swim LOL).
