We left Bundoora Dam in the morning and travelled on the Fitzroy Development Road up to Mackay. This was about a 3 hour trip (actually, we didn’t even have our usual mid morning cappuccinos!!!!) then we arrived at the Big4 Mackay Marine Tourist Park – our home for the next 6 weeks!!!! On the way to Carnarvon Gorge National Park, I was looking into campgrounds available to stay at. The campground at the CP National Park is only open at Easter and through the Qld school holidays, another campground called Sandstone Park (which I saw on my wikicamps app) had just closed for the off-season and wasn’t reopening until March next year. We continued on to Roma on the Warrego Highway which was about an hour’s drive.

After leaving Lara Wetlands, we continued south on the Landsborough Highway to our next stop at Evening Star Tourist Park, Charleville. It was a very looooong drive being around 4 hours with a few games of eye spy, Mitch watching movies on the tablet and us listening to numerous music CDs!!!!
